Database Reliability Review

Use this when

A PostgreSQL, Aurora/RDS, or cloud data environment faces growth, migration, recovery, availability, or operational-readiness risk.

What I do

I review architecture, workload separation, failure assumptions, recovery objectives, observability, capacity, change controls, and ownership.

What you receive

  • Architecture and operational-risk findings
  • Prioritized risk register
  • Recommended remediation roadmap
  • Validation and verification plan
  • Technical findings review

Boundary

The review does not include 24×7 operations, production guarantees, or implementation unless separately agreed.

02

Performance Qualification

Use this when

A critical workload is slow or unstable and the team needs to compare remedies before changing production.

What I do

I establish a reproducible baseline, inspect the relevant evidence, define candidate remedies, test them against acceptance criteria, and document tradeoffs.

What you receive

  • Baseline and measurement method
  • Candidate-remediation comparison
  • Ranked recommendation with tradeoffs
  • Change and rollback plan
  • Verification evidence package

Boundary

Recommendations do not grant production authority. Representative workload, review, ownership, and a controlled change window remain required.

03

DBRE Readiness

Use this when

Incidents repeat, database knowledge is tribal, or evidence, runbooks, approvals, and automation operate as disconnected activities.

What I do

I map the reliability lifecycle, clarify ownership, define evidence and review gates, improve runbooks, and identify safe automation opportunities.

What you receive

  • DBRE ownership and escalation model
  • Incident and evidence workflow
  • Runbook set and review checklist
  • Change and approval controls
  • Prioritized automation backlog

Boundary

This is an operating-model engagement, not a managed DBA service or outsourced on-call rotation.

Starting point

The first conversation is a fit check, not a sales performance.

We clarify the affected system, business impact, constraints, evidence already available, and the decision the work must support.
